Obituary

Virginia Evangeline Swope, Wolcott
On June 14th, 2024, after an extended illness, our beloved Ginny left us to be with the Lord. Ginny was a faithful wife and best friend to her husband, Charles and a loving mother to her daughters - Sandy and Shelly. Ginny was born January 15, 1941, at her home in Conquest, N.Y., the daughter of Marion and Mildred (Hunter) Mosher.

Ginny was predeceased by both her parents and her brother Larry Mosher. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 64 years - Charles; her sister, Anna (Jim) Martin, daughters Sandra (Jeff) Harper and Shelly (Justin) Dates, her grandsons, Zachary (Amanda) Dates, Kyle (Courtney) Dates, Aaron (Catherine) Dates, and Marc (Becky) Harper, and her great-grandchildren Claire, Avery, Laiken, Elyse and Jesse Dates, and Charlotte Harper, along with several nieces and nephews.

Ginny was always a warm, welcoming presence wherever she went and to all who knew her. She was devoted to her family, a good listener and an endless source of comfort and encouragement. Her family is most thankful for her strong, enduring faith. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, especially her husband and daughters. Some of Ginny's various interests through the years included sewing, knitting, crocheting, reading, sketching and drawing. At one time she raised sheep and dyed her own wool using natural dyes she made herself. She spun her wool into yarn and also learned to weave. From her own garden she canned and froze vegetables and fruits for her family's meals.
After raising their daughters, Charles and Virginia had many lovely adventures together, traveling to Alaska, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, England, Ireland and Scotland. They also enjoyed taking local road trips in their 1941 Ford convertible.
