Shelly Jean Cahoon
Shelly Jean Cahoon, 69, of Wolcott, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 20, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born in Lyons, NY, daughter of the late Paul Jackson and the late Thelma Jean Hunnicutt Jackson.
A lifelong member of Wolcott, Shelly was deeply committed to her community. She served proudly on the North Rose-Wolcott School Board and the Town of Huron Zoning Board, always seeking ways to serve and support her town.
Prior to retirement, Shelly devoted her career to the Webster Central School District, culminating in her role as Assistant Superintendent of Pupil Services. Her work helped shape countless young lives with compassion, vision, and care.
After retirement, Shelly embraced a new chapter alongside her lifelong partner and husband, Bob, co-founding Fresh Start Orchards—an endeavor that reflected their shared love of nature, family, and community.
Above all else, Shelly's heart belonged to her family. Her greatest joy came from being a mother and grandmother, and she wore those titles with unmatched pride. She nurtured not just her own children, but her entire circle—offering a listening ear, a warm kitchen, and unconditional love. She found peace in her garden, where her green thumb brought beauty to every season.
She is predeceased by her son, Christopher Robert Cahoon, and her granddaughter, Lailah.
Shelly leaves behind her loving husband of 49 years, Robert Cahoon; her daughter, Casie (Mike) DeWispelaere of Wolcott; and her son, Craig (Colleen) Cahoon of Webster. She is also survived by her brother, Randy (Kim) Jackson of Wolcott; her sister, Sandy Zee Briggs of Lakeland, TN; and her adored grandchildren: Ryan, Evan, Owen, Callahan, Mackenzie, and Cohen. She will be fondly remembered by several nieces, nephews, extended family, and the many friends whose lives she touched.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 27, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Farnsworth-Keysor Funeral Home, 5025 Main Street, North Rose, a service will take place Saturday, June 28 at 2:00 p.m. at the North Rose United Methodist Church, 5050 N Main Street, North Rose. Shelly will be laid to rest privately at Huron Evergreen Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at Pier 53 following the service, 7147 Lake Bluff Road, Wolcott.
In honor of her generous spirit and courageous battle, contributions may be made in Shelly's name to the Wilmot Cancer Center, 601 Elmwood Avenue, Rochester, NY 14642.
Shelly's legacy is one of love, resilience, service, and joy. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
