Obituary

Scot Howard Van Norstrand, a gentle soul and dreamer, departed his family on June 27, 2026, at age 67, following an extended illness.

Scot was one of five children of Betsy Laura (Hayes) Van Norstrand and Howard Wessel Van Norstrand.

Scot graduated from Red Creek High School and took classes at Auburn Community College. Scot worked for Fair Haven State Park for many years, before having a kidney transplant while in his thirties. Following that, Scot worked at various positions in Walmart.

Scot had a very wry sense of humor that you may not have recognized till you knew him. He loved family, learning about technology, reading, recipes, gardening, watching things grow and everything Scooby Doo!

Scot was preceded in death by his father Howard Van Norstrand and brother Thomas Van Norstrand.

Scot is survived by his mother Betsy Van Norstrand, and siblings Gary (Denise) Van Norstrand, Michael (Judy) Van Norstrand, Sandy (David) Kiemle, sister-in-law Sherry P. Van Norstrand, many cousins, nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the National Kidney Foundation or any favorite charity, can be made in Scot's name.

Scot chose to have no formal services, preferring an intimate, informal family service. However, we know Scot, with his "very interesting" sense of humor, would want to have us all share a laugh from stories past in celebration of his long journey home.
