Richard J. Parks, 65, of Newark, passed away Saturday, at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, surrounded by his family.
Born in Newark, Richard was the son of the late Richard Parks, Sr., and Una Craine Parks.
He was former manager of Durkee French Foods in Wolcott.
Richard loved his grandchildren, and enjoyed spending time with them.
He was a die-hard Yankees fan. He spent a lot of his life playing on traveling softball teams, for which he had a major passion. He also enjoyed playing golf.
Besides his parents, Richard was predeceased by one sister, Linda Chapman.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Salisbury Parks, one daughter, Amber (Jon) Bishop of Lowville; one son, Jeff (Jamie) Parks of Kentucky; two brothers, Randy (Christine) Parks of Parish, and Jimmy (Ginny) Parks of Charlotte NC; three grandchildren, Jacen Baldwin, Jonathan Bishop, and William Parks; as well as two nieces, Colby Ceratt and Rachel Imperato.
Friends may call from 12:00 to 2:00 Tuesday, at the Becker-Keysor Funeral Home in Red Creek.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 Tuesday at the funeral home, after the calling hours.
Burial will follow in South Side Cemetery, in Red Creek.
