Richard Hills, 93, of Cato passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and family. He was born in Johnsburg, NY, son of the late Russell Hills and Gladys Armstrong Hills.  He started his career as a school bus driver when he was a high school senior and later served his country as a first lieutenant in the Air Force.  For several years he owned the Johnsburg Garage and had a Dodge dealership before embarking on a teaching career.  He retired as a business teacher at Cato-Meridian Central School where he taught for 22 years. During his tenure as a teacher, he touched the lives of many students with his innovative teaching, club activities, and helping his students develop life skills. He was a great role model as a father, husband and community leader. He was an active member of both the Cato Rotary Club and the Cato Christian Fellowship Church for 57 years. He enjoyed downhill skiing, golfing, playing bridge, working on vehicles, playing guitar and family sing-a-longs.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Rose Miner Hills, his children Brenda Halliday, Diane Townsend (Bradley) Susan Pierce (Dennis), Paula Hills (Patty), Jeffrey Hills (Robin), Gregory Hills (Heather), Sister, Lois Ann Yandon, brother Donald Hills, 18 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by his siblings, Joyce Meng, John Hills, son-in-law Thomas Halliday, and daughter-in-law Gretchen Hills.

A memorial service will take place May 19, 2023 at 2pm at the Cato Christian Fellowship 2570 E. Main Street, Cato, NY.  Arrangements are in care of the Keysor-Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, Cato.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Richard's name to Cato Christian Fellowship 2570. E.
