Richard "Dick" Dunaway, 93, of Fair Haven passed away Friday, May 17, 2019, at his home surrounded by family. He was born in Liverpool, May 19, 1925, son of the late Gordon Dunaway, and, Reba Mitchell Dunaway. He was an insurance executive and partner in the Watertown insurance agency of Northland Agency. After returning from WW II, he was a 25 year member of the Army Reserve retiring in 1985 as a Lieutenant Colonel and commander of the 479th Engineer battalion. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, Syracuse Sports, travelling, and spending time in nature, as well as the occasional cocktail hour and most especially family time.
He was predeceased by his brother, Paul Dunaway.
Survived by his wife, Judith Bonner Dunaway, sons, Richard (Madeleine) Dunaway of the Villages , Fl., James Dunaway of Poughkeepsie, step son, Wesley (Anathea) Simpkins of NYC, Grandchildren, Natalie (Scott) Billo of Fl., Rich (Jennifer) Dunaway of Ithaca, Scott (Jodi) Dunaway of Harpursville, and, Huxley Simpkins, Great Grandchildren, Alex Billo, Nadia Billo and, Aylisia Dunaway, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will take place Tuesday,May 21, at 1:00 PM, at Fair Haven Community Church , 14463 Richardson Ave, Fair Haven, NY, 13064.
