Lucretia A. Verkest "Petie," 88, of Red Creek, NY,  peacefully passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Wayne County Nursing Home with her family by her side.  She was born in the Town of Wolcott, July 13, 1936, daughter of the late George Larkin , and the late Victorine Younglove Larkin. She was a sweet, kind, dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend.  She loved her whole family and was always happy to see them. Prior to retirement she had worked at the North Rose Wolcott Schools cafeteria and then retired from Durkee Foods. She loved gardening, reading, her grandchildren, family, and traveling.

She is predeceased by her son, Dennis B. Verkest (2024); siblings, Phyllis Minier, Beverly Howland, Artus Larkin, Roberta Keeton, Dorinda Roberts and Willis (Jerry) Larkin.

Survived by her husband of 71 years, Maurice Verkest, daughters, Stephanie (Randy) Nodine of Red Creek, Julie (Jim) Geffert of North Rose, daughter in law, Sunant (Juke) Verkest, 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Per her request, there will be no calling hours or service. The family would like to thank the entire staff at the Wayne County Nursing Home for their compassionate care during "Petie's" stay.
