Kay
Knapp
Oct 17, 1936 — Jan 13, 2026
North Rose
Kay Knapp passed away peacefully on January 13, 2026.
Kay was born on October 17, 1936, to Stanley and Sophie O'Bine, in Sodus, NY who were preceded in death along by her beloved husband, Herman Knapp and sister, Doris Johnson.
Kay is survived by her sons Joseph Connelly (Karen), Michael Connelly (Mary), Steven Connelly (Sheryl) and William Knapp; her brother Tom O'Bine (Dorothy); her grandchildren Chelsie Anjo, Stephen Connelly, Morgan Patchett, Shane Connelly and Olivia Knapp; and six great-grandchildren.
Kay was an accomplished and hard-working woman. She began her career by starting her own hairdressing business in North Rose, and later alongside her late husband, owned and operated a successful manufacturing business in Clyde. Her dedication, and strong work ethic were evident throughout her life.
Kay enjoyed many adventures traveling with Herm and her family in tow to places such as Cape Cod, Hawaii, Wyoming and Florida. Kay had a love of musical theater and for many seasons held a season pass to RBTL. In Kay's later years, she made a best friend in her furry pal Bea Bea. Together they would run errands, eat breakfast on the davenport, look at pictures on her iPad and would never miss an episode of the Young and the Restless.
With all of the many personal achievements Kay acquired over the years, her family was her purpose, her pride and her greatest accomplishment. After calling Gray St. in North Rose home for many years while raising (wrangling) her boys, Kay with her husband moved to Shaker Heights. Soon after, Kay became "Nana," and Nana's house grew deep roots. Many miles were put in on her driveway as generations rode over the pavement in strollers, then bicycles and eventually cars. You could often even see the wheelbarrow putting time in with all the littles, hitching a ride and the uncles/grandpas behind the wheel. Chocolate chip cookies and fresh pies filled the house with the sweetest of scents and Nana always made sure to have plenty of frozen ho-hos. Holidays and birthdays were celebrated at the dining room table and leaves and chairs were added yearly. During the summer, the family looked forward to spending time on the back deck overlooking Sodus Bay. Boats came and went from the dock throughout the years, but Nana was a constant on the shore, watching her family experience joy in the place she built. Nana was always seen waving in excitement as one of her family members would pop up on skis for the first time, catch their first sunfish or bring their new puppy to the launch to dip their paws for the first time. Nana's house was our home, a safe space she created and gifted to her family to gather for any reason or none at all.
Nana Kay was home to those who loved and knew her best, and she will be deeply missed.
Many thanks from the family to granddaughter Chelsie for sharing these loving memories of "Nana".
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Kay's name to the Wayne County Humane Society,1475 County House Road, Lyons, NY 14489. A private service will be held at an undetermined date. Arrangements are in care of the Farnsworth-Keysor Funeral Home, North Rose. www.catoredcreek.com
