June E.
Richardson
Nov 11, 1927 — Dec 23, 2018
Cato
June Evelyn Richardson, 91, passed away on December 23, 2018. She was born in 1927 to Evelyn Porter Cook and Roy Carl Cook. She was raised in Victory, NY and attended Cato High School.
A child of the depression, she was poor but spiritually wealthy and never missed a Sunday service at the Methodist Church. Blessed with a beautiful voice, she was the lead soprano in the choir until moving to Boston to stay with her aunt during World War II. While there, she worked various jobs to " keep the home fires burning". After the war she traveled to New York City. It was there she greeted her childhood sweetheart, Tilton E. Rose, Jr., who had returned from the D-Day Invasion. They married shortly after and had a daughter, Kathy, eventually settling in Montezuma, NY.
June enjoyed skiing, skating and riding her red Indian Motorcycle. She attained her pilots license and loved the thrill of flying the skies of central New York. Self taught on the guitar, she would volunteer to entertain at the VA hospital, never forgetting those who served.
In 1973 she met the love of her life, Loren A. Richardson. They were married in 1974 and lived in Cato, NY. They had many happy years together, traveling, boating, entertaining family and friends at their country home surrounded by the wildlife she loved.
Of all her passions, the welfare of animals was the greatest. She would not tolerate the mistreatment of any living creature. Despite her small stature, she would not be intimidated by anyone or anything in their defense, as her family will confirm!
Predeceasing June were her parents, Evelyn and Roy Cook and her brother Willis R. Cook.
Mourning June's passing are her devoted husband, Loren, daughters Kathy (Richard)
and Michelle, sons, Tim (Stacy) and Kevin (Margaret), grandchildren Dr. David Thoryk (Jackie), Ashley Ling and Lindsay Richardson and great granddaughters, Bethany and Amanda Thoryk.
