John R.
Lalik
Jul 3, 1949 — Nov 15, 2019
Victory Town
John Richard Lalik, 70, of the Town of Victory, passed away Friday, November 15, 2019 in a tragic house fire. John was born in Fulton, NY, the son of the late Edward Lalik and Evelyn Forscutt Lalik.
In his early years, John worked in the nuclear industry before becoming employed by the state as a structural engineer. Anyone who knew John—and he had an abundance of deeply connected friendships—would describe him as colorful, caring, generous, and a gentleman. John was silly, fun, and crazy smart. He cherished the simple things, was always present, and was a conversationalist beyond compare. John was convinced the Fair Haven parade and fireworks display was put on personally for him on his birthday. He loved his 1968 Harley. He adored his wife, who was his high-school sweetheart. A treasure has been lost.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years: Jacky Kleege Lalik; daughters: Penny Lalik Parker of Webster, NY and Gretchen Lalik Wiegers of Denver, CO; brothers: William (Rosary) Lalik of Alexandria, VA and Edward (Nancy) Lalik of Fair Haven, NY; sisters: Diane (Michael) Lalik Roden of Fair Haven, NY and Millie Lalik Stevens of Fair Haven, NY; Grandson: Dalton (Chelsie) Parker of Morse, Louisiana; Granddaughter: Mirabelle Pepe Wiegers of Denver, CO; Great Grandson: Oli Charles Parker of Morse, Louisiana; as well as many loved cousins, nieces, and nephews who will miss their Cool Uncle John.
A celebration of John's life will take place at the Red Creek Conservation Club, 6924 Waters Road, Red Creek, NY 13143, on Sunday, November 24, starting at 1:00 p.m. Words of remembrance will take place at 3:00 p.m. Arrangements are entrusted to the Becker-Keysor Funeral Home, Red Creek, NY.
