Helen L. Scott, 80, of Meridian, NY, passed away, Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at Upstate University Hospital, surrounded by her family. Helen was born in Conquest the daughter of the late Walter Janes and Lillie Mae Devoe Janes. Helen was a member of the Meridian Baptist Church and the Village of Meridian Beautification Committee for fifty one years. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 32 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling and crocheting.
Helen is survived by her husband Robert Scott of 58 years, her sons Patrick (Linda) Scott, Michael (Joyce) Scott, her daughter Kathleen (Gary) Cole all of Cato. Her brother Walter(Louise) Janes Jr. of Weedsport, three sisters; Ruth VanNorstrand ,Elsie(Ed) Coleman of Port Byron, Anna Mawson of Weedsport, two sister- in- laws Carol Janes of Port Byron and Gerry Janes of Sennett, seven grandchildren Krystal, Kimberly, Kelly , Alan & Teresa Scott, Wesley & Zachary Cole, one great granddaughter Journee Watson, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers Arthur and Albert Janes. A memorial service will take place Saturday October 22nd @ 11am, Meridian Baptist Church; In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Upstate University Trauma Center, Meridian Baptist Church, or the American Red Cross.
