Obituary

Glenn Van Duyne, 60, of Wolcott, NY, passed away peacefully at his home on April 24 surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.  He was born in Auburn, NY on March 13, 1964, son of Donald Van Duyne, and Geraldine May Van Duyne.

Glenn grew up in South Butler, NY with his parents, brother, and sister and graduated from North Rose-Wolcott High School in 1982 where he wrestled and competed in pole vault on the track team.  Following graduation, Glenn joined his father at Over and Under Construction in Auburn NY where he worked for nearly 20 years. He met Lori Reynolds (his Horn), the love of his life, in July, 1985 at the Wolcott Hotel.  Glenn and Lori were married in a cornfield at 8 am on August 27, 1988 and in 1995 they welcomed their only child, Geoffrey Andrew (his Bug).

Glenn had a passion for being outside and having family and friends over to fish, go out on his favorite toy, his pontoon boat, or enjoy his famous barbecued chicken.  Whatever the occasion, everyone always felt welcomed.  Glenn had a strong love for German Shepherds after growing up around his grandmother Fran May, who was a German Shepherd breeder and ran a boarding kennel in Savannah, NY.  Glenn was famous for organizing trips with his friends to see his favorite performer,  John Valby. Glenn was not the sort of person who drew attention to himself and lit up a room.  He was quiet and reserved, a thinker and a listener.  When he had something to say it was usually a witty comment,  a jingle, a poem, or a joke.  Glenn was fiercely loyal to his family and to his friends.  He would drop whatever he was doing when anyone needed help.  He was always there, night or day, rain or shine. Glenn ended every conversation with …… EASY!

Glenn is survived by his wife, Lori Reynolds Van Duyne, son, Geoffrey (Sarah) Van Duyne, parents, Donald, and Geraldine Van Duyne, brother Gregory (Helen) Van Duyne, sister, Lynne Anne (Brian) Sweet, many nieces and nephews, beloved dogs Rowan and Luna, and grand puppies Ryker and Rylee.
