Gary
White
Jun 14, 1941 — Dec 15, 2025
North Rose
Gary Lee White, 84, passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of December 15, 2025, at 9:30 a.m., in his home, sitting in his favorite recliner, with his cousin and devoted caretaker, Garland Potter, by his side.
Gary was born on June 14, 1941, in Tioga, PA to Severn White and Loretta Green. He lived life entirely on his own terms. He was as gruff as they come, the kind of man who made it clear from the start that you either took him as he was or you didn't. He had strong opinions and never hesitated to share them. You always knew where you stood with Gary.
Underneath that tough exterior was a man who loved deeply. His family meant everything to him. His siblings were not just brothers and sisters; they were his closest friends. He shared a special bond with his brother Larry (Rose) and deeply loved his sisters Judy (Robert) Thompson, and Sheila (Robert) Nowak, as well as his sister-in-law, Barb (Mickie) White.
Gary had a lifelong love of gambling, especially poker. To his nieces and nephews, he was affectionately known as a "card shark," a title he wore proudly. A deck of cards, a cigarette hanging out of his mouth, a good game, and family gathered around the table made him happiest.
Gary was honest about his life. He never claimed to be perfect and would be the first to admit he made mistakes. One regret he spoke of often was the love of his life, Bonnie. He wished he had treated her better and said that if he were ever given a do over, that would be the change he would make without hesitation. If you see this, Bonnie, he loved you.
Gary proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, a chapter of his life he carried with quiet pride.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Loretta Green, and by his siblings Caroline White and Mickie "Gordo" White.
Gary leaves behind a family who loved him exactly as he was, strong edges and all. He will be remembered for his blunt honesty, his loyalty, his love of cards, and the fierce love he held for his family. He will be deeply missed.
We know you are listening to Jim Ed Brown's "Pop a Top," finding the loved ones who went before you, and starting up that long overdue poker game.
A private graveside service with military honors will take place in the spring at Rose Cemetery. Anyone wishing to make contributions in Gary's name they may do so to the Wolcott American Legion, 10675 Ridge Rd., Wolcott, NY 14590, your kindness and support are greatly appreciated. Farnsworth-Keysor Funeral Home, North Rose, is in care of the arrangements.
