Gary L. Groot, 85, of Jordan, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2024. He was born in Conquest, NY, son of late Lyman Groot, and the late Viola McNett Groot. He was an Airforce Veteran proudly serving his country for over 20 years. Although his degree from Syracuse University was in mathematics, he spent the majority of his career employed as a quality control engineer with a number of companies prior to his retirement. He enjoyed his family, flying his model airplanes, his John Deere Tractors, serving as the fix-it man for his family, friends, and churches, and spoiling all of the family dogs.

He is predeceased by his wife, Linda Southard Groot.

Survived by his daughters, Karen (Todd) Fargo of Webster, Suzanne (Carl) Bentzel of Bowie Maryland, son, Thomas (Tomara) Groot of Maynardville Tennessee, sister, JoAnn (John) Baker of Cato, significant other, Roberta Southard, daughters-in-law, Wendy (Stuffy) House, and Lori (Wayne) Schmidt, grandchildren, Noah, Abby, Ethan, Hannah, CJ, Brooke, Seth; great grandchildren, Aubrie, Layne. A celebration of life will take place Saturday, December 21, 1:00-4:00 at the Labuff Cole Legion Post 911, 2558 Legion St., Cato, NY. burial with military honors will be held privately at Meridian Cemetery.
