Obituary

Elizabeth Ann "Betsy" Pierce (née Brown) passed away on May 15, 2024, at the age of 79 in Syracuse, New York surrounded by her family. She was a loving mother, wife, and artist, inheriting her artistic talent from her father, John Stephen Brown, and her nurturing abilities from her mother, Edythe Mae Gates. Betsy's first stop will be at the Rainbow Bridge to reunite with all her beloved fur babies.

Betsy is survived by her loving husband, Jeff Pierce, and her daughters Terry Lee (née Ball) Kent [Gary], Tina Lyn (née Ball) Watkins [Jim], and Jodie Pierce. She is also survived by her sister Linda Zona (née Brown), brothers Calvin Brown [Joan] and Buster Brown [Cynthia], her best friend Carol Perkins, as well as numerous nieces,  nephews, and friends that considered her like a Mom.

Betsy was preceded in death by her father, John Stephen Brown, step-father Albert Mattice, mother Edythe Mae Gates, son Kevin Pierce, siblings Nancy Louise Brown and Mary Frances Roloson (née Brown), nephew, Marty Roloson, and nieces Jodi Ann Thomas and Dacia Hanagan.

An avid artist, Betsy spent several years selling her artwork locally, specializing in painting landscapes and animals. Her many joys extended to hobbies such as creating  her beautiful flower gardens, fishing, feeding every bit of wildlife she could, sewing, illustration, and painting. She especially enjoyed painting on old barn roof tiles. She loved going on adventures with her kids, and we couldn't always keep up! Her favorite place on earth is her camp on Otter Lake. The lake was her sanctuary and the inspiration for much of her art.

Betsy's educational journey included attending primary and high school in Romulus, NY, (where she used her artistic talents creating illustrations for her Senior Yearbook) and furthering her education at Cayuga County Community College.

A private gathering will be held to honor Betsy's life. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to any organization that supports animals, a cause dear to Betsy's heart.

Betsy never asked for much, but was willing to give everything to help and support her friends and family.

Love you, Mom!
