Obituary

David R. Keith, 64, of Victory, NY passed away peacefully at his home with his wife and daughter by his side on May 6, after a courageous battle with Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

David is survived by his wife Barbara of 44 years, their daughter Angel, son-in-law Mark, grandchildren David and Rose Southwick, several cousins, and nieces nephews. David was predeceased by parents, Donald and Vivian Keith and siblings Fred Cook, Donald "Tink" Keith, and Donna (Keith) O'Connor.

David, fondly known as Crockett/Pops, was the youngest son born to parents Donald and Vivian Keith, on January 29, 1959, in Lyons, NY. His parents passed away when he was three and he moved to Gouverneur, NY to live with his grandparents, aunt and  uncle.

David attended Star Lake High School and graduated in 1977. He married the love of his life/highschool sweetheart, Barbara, on September 16, 1978. The couple were the best of friends and with each other through all of life's ups and downs. The newlyweds left the ADK and moved to Liverpool, NY where David attended NTTS and earned his CDL. David was then employed by P & C Foods as a Truck Driver and worked there for 33 years. He was known to take new employees under his wing and show them the ropes of the company. He retired as one of their most senior drivers.

After a few years of retirement, David went back to work as a  bus driver and retired again in May 2022. When he was not driving bus, David spent hours taking immaculate care of his home and lawn. David enjoyed a good challenge and rarely threw anything away. He found joy in fixing objects no matter their size. He had life experience in carpentry and mechanics.

David loved his wife, family, dog - Molly, and cat- Miles more than anything. David was a wonderful and devoted father, husband, and  grandpa "Pops." He was always up for an outdoor adventure no matter the time of year. He loved to hunt, fish, ice fish, hike, snowshoe, camp, boat, water ski & kayak. David was one of the 4 percent of Boy Scouts of America to earn the highest rank attainable- Eagle Scout. He passed these skills onto his grandchildren when they spent time together. David's hobbies included participating in horseshoe and bowling leagues and restoring his '57 Chevy.
