Danny R.
Snyder
Mar 22, 1965 — May 26, 2021
Wolcott
Surrounded by his wife, sons, and loved ones, Danny R. Snyder, 56, of Wolcott, NY, passed away at
Rochester General Hospital on Wednesday, May 26, 2021. He was born in Lowville, son of the late
Charles Snyder and Marion Sheldon Snyder. Despite his battle with serious medical issues in recent
years, he showed courage in facing life's challenges with determination, kindness, and gratitude.
Danny attended Copenhagen Central School and later, Jefferson Community College receiving a degree
in accounting. He took pride in his work for the Town of Harrisburg, the New York State Thruway
Authority, and retiring from the New York State Canal Authority. In total, he dedicated over thirty years
to civil service. Danny's community was important to him. He served on the North Rose-Wolcott Board
of Education, as well as serving as a member of the Town of Butler Zoning Board.
Danny was an avid outdoorsman. He loved nature, hunting deer and turkey, planting a garden and fruit
trees, and building his own sugar shanty this past year. He never let his illness prevent him from living.
As an expert in both nature and mechanics, he was always happy to answer any questions from family
and friends. His kindness and generosity were unmatched. He was always a phone call away for
everyone; whether it was gardening, a broken dishwasher, or just providing an ear to listen. He never
wanted anything in return for all of his generosity. For Danny, kindness was always its own reward.
A devoted family man, he will always be loved for his kindness, warmth, and caring nature. He was
blessed to have the love of his life, Becky, for twenty-five years of marriage. As a couple, they both
completed each other. God blessed them with twins: Benjamin and Jacob. Watching them grow into
young men gave both Danny and Becky such joy. Whether it was soccer, basketball, or baseball, you
would always find the two of them cheering on their boys. Both parents were so proud as both boys
ventured off to college after graduating from high school.
In 2018, Danny was diagnosed with multiple myeloma – a relatively unknown, but serious form of
cancer. He valiantly fought the cancer with quiet courage, determination, and hope. Danny never let
his illness interfere with his life. It was his dream to build his own sugar shanty, which he accomplished
in the spring of 2021 with the help of close friends. Always looking forward, three weeks before his
passing, Danny worked with his family and planted over 700 trees for future generations to enjoy.
He is survived by his wife, Becky (Brooks) Snyder, sons, Jacob Snyder, and Benjamin Snyder, four sisters, Karen
(Thomas) Breen of Albany, Linda Snyder of Houston, Texas, Cindy (Terry Staplin) Eves of Watertown, and
Kathy Reed of Lowville, and two brothers, Terry (Bertha) Snyder of Copenhagen, David (Erin) Snyder of
Albany, as well as several nieces, nephews, and many loving in-laws.Calling hours will be Saturday, June
