Obituary

Anne E. Stornelli, 73, of Martville, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2017. Anne, the daughter of the late Reinhardt Voorhees Metzger and Agnes Kearney Lake, was born and raised in North Caldwell, New Jersey, where she graduated from West Essex High School's Class of '62.
Anne was a devoted wife to her late husband Dr. Samuel A. Stornelli (2016) and joined him in New York state shortly after they married, where they treasured many memories raising their son Marcus, and where she graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature.
Anne is predeceased by her husband Dr. Samuel A. Stornelli, her sister, Carol Marie Metzger, and her brother-in-law Orie Egnoto.
She is survived by her son Marcus Stornelli of Syracuse, her two older brothers; Robert (Judith) Metzger of New Jersey, and Frank Metzger of Illinois, three nieces; Fay Smith (also her Goddaughter), Kathy Davis and, Debbie Mulvey, a brother-in-law, Anthony Stornelli, a sister-in-law Anne Marie Egnoto, as well as three great nieces and a nephew (also her Godson).

Anne was a much-beloved family member, co-worker and friend to many; cherished for her quick wit, genuine concern for others, and great sense of adventure. She greatly enjoyed social time with her friends and family, and traveling, including extended visits with her brother Robert's family at their shore house in Long beach Island, NJ and with their cousin Jane at the Lake family reunions in Pleasantville, NJ. A lover of flowers and avid gardener, Anne recently built an impressive herb garden used daily in healthy food preparation and augmenting the exercise activities she also enjoyed. Although quite humble, Anne impressed many with her keen intelligence and her ability to converse skillfully in nearly any subject area, owing largely to her love of reading and literature, and particular interests in Modern American and Western European History. Most endearingly, she enthusiastically shared this knowledge with the most friendly and generous of spirit.
